He finally agreed to hit some off the tee rather than just being pitched to, since he said he had to get ready for his big game.
We are two games deep into his season of merely six games, and he's cuter than ever. He definitely has the look out there with his shirt tucked in, Rangers hat, cleats, and all. He carries a bat bag full of equip and his own water jug. He wants to do everything just like the pros. He's a big Adrian Beltre fan these days.
During the 20 minute warm-up period before the first game, he waved at me and yelled "Love you, mommy." Umm...can I bottle up moments like this to keep forever? He came over to get a kiss and a high five through the fence before an at-bat. He is such a sweet, little boy. I also overheard him talking to his teammates in the dugout about his little sister and that she was here at the game. Melt my heart now.
I took this photo during Game 1, because I knew that we wouldn't see David on this side of the fence for long. Witnessing a rite of passage here, people.
And....note who's out there helping for Game 2...
Nico's been a slugger and has really hit the ball hard for a majority of his at bats! He is the only one that has hit it through the infield yet. His first at bat was classic, and the ball rolled darn near to the fence. I'm fulfilling my job of being a proud parent.
He does have a problem with remembering to run though! He has stood there for a good 5 seconds after every single at bat so far. The innocence and confusion can only be seen as adorable. Once he's on the bases, he's been sliding into 3rd and home.

His cheering section for Game 2.
Here's Natalie enjoying the action in her uniform. She's taking her job as a fan seriously.
I felt as if this was a big day for David to watch his son play baseball for the first time. During all of his years of playing and coaching, I can imagine that he hoped that he would be a part of the game in this new way.
Post game celebration at Trudy's after the first game. I had to be in one pic.
