Natalie: 2 month update

I feel like I was just writing a ONE month update! She's just as smiley and happy as ever. It takes very little now to get a giant smile outta this one, so I'm surprised that she's not smiling in nearly every pic I have of her. Her smiles are so contagious, and I'm not sure how my heart hasn't burst by now with all of the joy that this little one has brought to our family.

Natalie had her 2 month appointment yesterday, and she continues to get a great, healthy report from Dr. Woods! She weighed in at 12 lbs 4 oz (72%), 23 inches tall (72%), and her giant head dropped to the 96 %tile! Dr. Woods asked if she was always that happy, because she was smiling and kicking away the entire visit. It was a quick and easy visit, and the only concern that I have had is a new cyst above her right eye. It's more noticeable some days than others. It appeared to increase in size a few days ago, and I brought Natalie in for a visit then, even though she had her 2 month appt coming up. (I felt like a crazy parent, but motherly worries are the worst.)  Each doctor said there is nothing to worry about for now, and we can consider having it removed when she's older. When they both initially started looking at her, they had to ask me where it was that I was talking about, so I figured that I must be making it seem bigger in my mind!

There are a few noteworthy things since my last 6 week write up only a few weeks ago. She is sleeping even better through the night now!! We are getting 4-6 hour intervals for the first half of the night in her crib (which starts anywhere from 9:30 to 11) and then another 3-4 hours in the pack n play in our room after she eats. Can we pleaaaase keep this up when I return to work in just a few short days?!

The other thing is that the coos and noises have begun! It's definitely one of the best parts of this stage! She is reacting more to our facial expressions and noises and is just so alert.

Nico is still an eager helper. He is just so loving with her. He gives her baths at night and continues to hold her and kiss her plenty too. The other day he told me, "I just wanna marry sister because she's so adorable!" He later told me that he wanted to live with us forever. He's full of such genuine thoughts.

David often has the magic touch and is so good with her. She has had a few short lived crying spells lately, and when David has taken her from me, she has fallen asleep within a few minutes. Knowing that she is in good hands will make going back to work much easier. (Gotta love her chunk of hair in the back that always stands straight up!)

As for me, life can't get much better. This is a time in my life that I know I will often look back on with such fondness and nostalgia. So many things to be thankful for, and this little family of mine is definitely at the top of that list. We had such a memorable summer together... and we actually didn't kill each other or get too sick of each other during those 9 weeks that we were together nearly 24/7! (Some people may have lost that bet, ha!)

I think going from 1 to 2 kids was such a smooth transition and beats going from 0 to 1. It didn't take long to get in the groove of things, between Natalie being a happy baby, Nico's eagerness to help and his own level of independence that comes with being 5, and David staying home to be the super dad that does it all around here. How did I get so lucky?

Continuing to surprise myself and others with how girly I have dressed this little doll. She's wearing nearly all 3 month clothes now, and I admit that it's a little sad to see the large pile of newborn clothes that will never get worn again in this house!

She's getting stronger and can sit up with less of a bobble head goin' on. She looks so much more grown up to me when we sit her up like this! Ahh! She's not the biggest fan of tummy time more than a few minutes, but she sits up plenty to help gain strength.

Trying to take plenty of mental snapshots these days of these little fingers as they curl around mine. And those chunky cheeks and curly eyelashes that are even further accentuated from my overhead view when I'm holding her. She's just so cute.
