Nico: 5.5

Ohhh... I don't even know where to start to describe this kid. We have known from the beginning that Nico was going to be a fun one. He started talking from a very young age, and he hasn't stopped since! He is all boy, active, and loves to constantly be busy. He's a happy kid, confident, and has a big heart. He still will randomly tell me, "Mommy, you're the best mom I could ever have!" His favorite things are playing outside, anything sports (mostly baseball and hockey), riding his scooter or bike, eating anything with sugar in it, the ipad, and legos.

He plays best with older kids, likely because of his roughness and athleticism (none of the kids that are actually his age can swim well, ride a bike, throw a ball, etc like him...) Despite his craziness and high energy though, he couldn't be any better and gentler of a big brother.

He is definitely at a more independent age now that he is a big Pre-K-er. He's doing great in school, and the teacher feedback is basically what we would expect- that he isn't great at sitting still and needs redirection to focus on tasks. He really is proud of his little projects and his handwriting. He's at that point that makes you nervous as his mama, where you don't have to keep your eye on him every second on the restaurant playground that is 50 yds away, and you can just glance from afar every few minutes. He also now goes over to the neighbors and we aren't aware of what he is doing every second. Eeeeek. With each new phase comes new thing to worry about!

He's got quite the sense of humor and has us cracking up daily with his funny saying and expressions. You can tell that he enjoys getting reactions out of people. He's got a strong personality, too, and isn't afraid to talk back. Time out is a common thing in this household! I can say that he is at least 100x more behaved out in public than within the walls of our home!

He wants more than anything to have bigger muscles like his Uncle E. After eating a meal with protein, he flexes and asks me if they look bigger. His previous ambition in life was to lose a tooth, and I haven't seen him much prouder than when that happened last week!

We are biased, but we think Nico is the best. He is going to do great things.

There is proof that he can sit still for >5 min, and it's usually when he is building legos or watching the ipad.

He has stopped watching much tv and is more into watching this kids' YouTube channel on his ipad of other kids opening toys and providing reviews on them. He's weird. (And yep, he's still into his thumb and blanket. We joke that he will likely take that blanket to college with him.)

He is building up his collection of NERF guns, and I'm convinced that we will be finding those darn arrows for the next decade.

Sister lovin'...these are the kinda moments that I signed up for.

"Can Natalie have a bath with me?"....

He has started picking her up a lot. The jury is still out if I should kinda freak out or pause to realize how cute they are.

He still comes in our room every now and then. If we hear thunder, it's a given that we will hear his feet hit the ground in the next 2 seconds. It's cute. I try to have sleepovers with him some, but he's honestly the worst to sleep with! He moves allll over the place and gets so hot!

He found his match in our new neighbor, Julian, who is a couple years older than him.

He's still got his same original buddies in the neighborhood, Jake and Derek. His other main friends are from baseball and Pre K!

Soooo proud of losing this tooth.

Seconds before he nailed me with a water balloon.

He would eat ice cream and/or candy for every meal if we would let him. Other than that, burgers and pizza may be his favs.

He goes and goes and goes until he hits a wall. I believe this picture was taken about 7 minutes after he threw a fit and claimed he was not tired.

He is full of expressions and is seriously funny. But if you beat him in a board game, he will lose his sh**.

Above all of Nico's interests, baseball wins out. He wants to practice nearly every.single.day. How can you say no to that? So proud of his hard work, and we can't help but love that he loves the game just like us (or heck, probably more!)

He's the kid that brings his baseball glove everywhere. Even when we go out to eat.

He was in for a treat when he went to watch some of daddy's former players play for Southlake in the State Championship semi final game. I think the light bulb went off that maybe his dad knows something about baseball after all.

That time we told him that his name was on the bottom scroll of ESPN so that everyone would know his game was rain delayed...

Yes, we are mean... but he messes with us so much, so you gotta give it back.

Love this little boy with all of my heart. Stop growing up into a big boy so fast, please.
