Dallas trip: Ryan's 30th Bday

This weekend was a blast up in Dallas for Ryan's big birthday party! The kids spent the weekend with Dave and Cindy while David and I had a good amount of adult time. (What's that?!)

It was a pretty quiet trip up to Dallas with these guys snoozing away! I entertained myself by taking pictures of these chunky legs that I adore.

We stopped by Ryan and Jess' on the way in for about an hour so that they could have their Nico and Natalie time.

Jess text me earlier in the week that when she told her mom that we were stopping by around 5, that she invited herself to be over around 5 too. The running joke was that if we couldn't find the kids, Hilary had taken them.

What I thought was going to be dinner and a night in with Dave and Cindy turned into a surprise date night when Cindy showed up at Ryan's house! I was shocked to see her walk in and knew that David was up to something. Taking me to Mia's was the best Valentine's dinner date I could ask for... and they even had girl scouts selling cookies out front. When we pulled up, I asked him if I had died and was in heaven? Some of my favorite things all in one place.

Nico spent the morning entertaining us, pretending he was going to jump into the cold pool.  David and I left around 2 to head to Plano, while the kids went on a walk, went to a baseball field, and just hung out with Papa and Grandma.

We went over to their house a few hours before the party so I could help out, while David and a handful of guys went to Bonefish to get out of our way.

They were so proud of their sign. (Nice spelling, huh?)

This little picture project demonstrates the extent of my creativity. I saw this idea online and thought it would be fun and fairly easy to do. We had a good variety of pics of Ryan from all ages with family and friends.

The party was a big success. There were about 30 people, the house was decorated up nicely, and there was a ton of food. Having DJ music playing in the background (since he is a wanna be DJ) as well as a beer pong game were the two requests that Ryan apparently put in.

Another highlight was this amazing cake that a longtime friend/softball teammate, Holly, made for us. She had been posting pictures online for several months of cakes that she made for family birthdays, so I asked her if she would make us one. She is so talented, and it's unbelievable that this is merely a hobby on the side. I was her first paying client. Ryan was blown away by this little surprise!

And then the fireball came out...

I fully intended to take advantage of the fact that we used uber for paid transportation, so when the fireball came out combined with the "Frank the Tank" chanting, I didn't want to disappoint the fans. The feedback from our fam on the next day was that they wish they had a picture of David's reaction when he saw me drinking straight from the bottle. Ha.

It was a perfect little party to celebrate Ryan!

Thanks to Dave and Cindy for watching these guys.
