Natalie: 8 months old

The one we call Chubbers is now 8 months old! Just as in all of the other monthly updates, she continues to be a very happy, smiley girl! Her newest noteworthy accomplishments include perfecting her speed rolling, imitating waving/clapping/other little lip smacking and kissing noises, saying ma ma (my personal fav...), can stand with assistance to play, and just becoming generally more curious of the world around her.

I just look at her and beam with happiness. Her smile and enthusiasm are contagious. I just couldn't love her any more than I do.

Size: measuring in at a whopping 18 lbs (87%) as of her doctor's appt a couple weeks ago when David brought her in for the rash on her feet and also mentioned that her milk intake has been down to barely 20 oz total/day. Obviously, we were told not to worry, with her being in the 87th percentile, ha! As for the reash, it ended up being impetigo and a prescription cream did wonders within a few days. Will find out the other stats at her 9 month appt.

Clothing: Size 9 mo- 12 mo, barely fitting into the remaining size 2 diapers

Schedule: Her daytime schedule has continued to be very consistent these past couple months!

7 am- the avg time that all of us get up
7-8:30 Hanging out with mama, takes 1st bottle
8:30-10 playtime with daddy, neighborhood walk if the weather is nice, rolling around time upstairs
10-12 naptime
12:30 pick up Nico, then come home to have 2nd bottle and baby food lunch (fruit)
12:30-2 playtime
2/2:30ish naptime until 4, which is about the time I'm usually strolling in or finishing up computer work
6- finishes 2nd bottle or starts a 3rd, then has her baby food dinner (meat/veggie combo)

It's really been effortless to stick with this general routine! She's like clockwork and starts to suck her thumb and whine a little when she's ready for a nap. She's a good little napper.

Now sleeping at night has been another story. She has been all over the place with this - ranging from sleeping through the night here and there (just had 4 nights in a row of 12+ hours, woo hoo!) to getting up 2-3x and wanting to stay up for an hour. She has always been one to eat and fall back asleep quickly, so this has thrown us for a loop. We're blaming it on the teething. She still has just two teeth, but I know that those top ones are wanting to pop through. She hasn't had any milk in the night for quite some time, so we at least have that habit broken.

She's still all about putting her toys in her mouth and loves these frozen key rings.

Eating: she's gone through about every fruit and veggie that you could name, and the Stage 2 baby food packages have mixtures with 2-3 different fruits, or a few veggies, meat, and rice all combined. I don't remember the extensive combinations with Nico?! She has eaten every one without any issues, and she gets excited when you put her in the highchair. She snacks on the mum mums still, and we aren't in a hurry to try finger foods just yet.

We did have issues with constipation for a few days this past month, and it was the saddest thing to see. I literally had to dig some out of her. I can check that off on my list of things I never hope to do again.

As excited as she gets about food, it pales in comparison to being around that big brother of hers. Nico is still her hero, and she will perk up and laugh any time of day that he comes over to her. My collection of photos of the two of them is building, because it's hard to not want to take pics when you see them together. He calls her sweet names, always wants to know where she is, and gives her plenty of hugs and kisses. The other day, I caught him whispering to her, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living, My baby you'll be" from the book we read! He's been the best big brother that I could have hoped for.

When she's not eating or sleeping, she is upstairs working on her world record rolling. Our family is all in agreeance that we never known a baby to roll as fast or as much as she does. We joke that she may go from rolling to walking and just skip crawling all together. She will go one side of the room to the other in a matter of seconds and changes her direction by rotating around when she's on her tummy. We have set up a nice little play area for her upstairs and try to keep all of Nico's toys strictly in the playroom.

Love that cute little booty and chunky, squishy thighs.

She likes to roll over to this thing and play the piano keys with her feet. She's really starting to learn about cause/effect with some of her toys.

She has begun to stand some to play! She's still wobbly, and you've gotta be right there. She lights up when you tell her that she is such a big girl.

She's so pretty. I think that and say it all of the time. That smile...

We keep a pillow behind her while she's sitting, but she really doesn't ever need it. She's really stable now and sits up for quite a while when she plays. It makes it more fun now that she can interact more and somewhat "play." We have picnics, stack up toys and knock them down, and some of our latest go to toys are the activity table (since it has a lot of gadgets and buttons) and the octopus and hippos (since both have a handful of balls that move around within the toy for her to find and grab).

She seems to really like being outside. We have done plenty of that lately with the weather being in the 70's and 80's. She likes to go on walks and watch Nico ride his scooter or play sports.

This may be one of my favorite pictures of her! Cheeeeese!

Just a few more, because I can't help it...

She tries to grab Miley's collar often, but Miley keeps coming around her. I sense that she often gets protective of her, especially when Nico is running and jumping around.

I can imagine that she's just babbling away here. She has said ma ma every single day since the first time on Feb 16. We were in her room and she was laying on the changing table before bed. She just looked right up at me with those big eyes of hers and said it. My heart just about melted.

Oh, just watching some La Tech softball...

Can you tell that we are having fun?! She's just the best.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! It was a special one for us since it was Natalie's first one! Despite her lack of excitement during the photographer's mini session from last weekend, these two are still the cutest kids I know.

Nico had been talking for weeks about having his sister and myself as his two valentines. He mainly wanted Natalie to be, but settled for giving me the title if it meant getting gifts.

My parents brought over some cupcakes this week too.

Nico had a school party the Friday before and gave his classmates Star Wars valentines.

As for us today, we celebrated this day of love by having a low key family night at home. My other Valentine and I had already had our little date night out this past weekend. I don't even remember what he cooked this night, but I'm sure that it was something A+. I did uncharacteristically get him a present today just for fun- an echo dot (voice activated music player with other extra functions too).
