Thank the Lord, it's baseball season. One of the best times of year! Enough of this hockey stuff :)
Nico has been asking every night if we can go out and play a family game of baseball ever since David took him to Academy to buy his first pair of real baseball pants and new cleats this week. He's hooked on baseball again! He has to get in full uniform every time, and of course, we have to present him each time he comes up to bat.
I don't even know where he gets it, but when we were picking up balls the other night, he pretended like he was autographing one before he handed it to me. He said something like, "There you go. My name is on that one... and the rest of my team." He's got a little cockiness to him that we adore.
He also recently wanted me to pretend that I was Isla (his little girlfriend in his class) and that I was cheering for him to hit a homerun. Crazy to me that at 4 years old, he is already thinking about impressing a girl!?! We have hade to get on him to stop upper-cutting and actually swing normally, since he is now all about the thrill of hitting the ball up onto the roof or deck with his newfound power.
Grandma and grandpa came over tonight to join in on our game.
