Our nighttime routine

We have been adding little random events and phrases to our nighttime routine with Nico. He now remembers every single step and we are required to complete all of them before he can go to sleep happy! It won't make sense to you, but I know that I will look back on this in many years with fond memories. I had to record this. Here's the breakdown.

1. "Rockababy"- step 1 consists of me sitting down by the bed (I must be in the same spot!), holding Nico with his head on the left side (otherwise he says it's backwards!) and singing the first part of rockabye baby.
2. Passing to David to sing the same thing, all while he's asking me repeatedly to tickle him.
3. David bodyslams him into bed.
4. He hugs me and then I bodyslam him.
5. I tuck him in as David goes across the room to the corner.
6. He jumps outta bed to play tag. He runs over to David, tags him, and then sprints across to me. This happens 3-6x.
7. On the final tag, David chases after him to pick him up and put him in bed.
8. David tucks him in.
9. High five
10. Knuckles
11. David says, "What are we?" and he answers, "best friends!"
12. David leaves/says goodnight and love you on the way out.
13. Song time with mommy which includes a big variety... wheels on the bus, ABCs, counting, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I Love Nico (a song I made up), Old MacDonald, Happy Birthday, Row Row Row your boat, Ring Around the Rosie... etc etc
14. Kisses
15. High five
16. Knuckles
17. Tuck him in
18. As I'm opening the door to leave, he throws his blanket on the ground and I have to tuck him in again.
19. Goodnight and I love you...

I can tell you completely honestly that we do NOT miss even one of those steps! It's pretty cute when you really think about it.
