Big brother lovin'

I can't say enough about what an amazing big brother Nico has been. He continues to be so gentle with her and gives her plenty of lovin' with kisses to her cheeks and forehead. He gets this little high pitch voice when he talks to her, and it absolutely melts my heart. He often will tell me in such a serious voice, "I just love her so much." I have also heard him telling her things like, "Sister, one day you'll be big enough to play with me..." He is her biggest cheerleader and repeatedly tells her, "Aww...good job, Natalie!" when she lifts her head up.

The initial excitement hasn't really seemed to wear off like we thought it would for him, as he still seems eager to hang out with her and be a part of things. I haven't sensed any jealousy or insecurity either, other than a general regression in his listening and behavior. (I tell people that he's 75% extra cute these days and about 25% a pain in the rear end, but I mean that with love.) He has been a pretty good helper for us though with getting diapers and setting up her swing.

Some of that extra cuteness that I was referring to did happen in big amounts on our first night at home. He kissed her and said goodnight about 18 different times. He then told me, "If there's anything you need in the middle of the night, just call me." Ha! Also, I was in her room with her for a majority of the night, since I heard her spit up and became paranoid that she would choke. (I forget how much worry comes with bringing home these tiny humans). When I opened the door to go to the bathroom, he was sound asleep right outside her doorway. He set up pillows and an extra blanket and everything. Can he be any cuter?

He asks to hold her a few times each day and is doing a really good job of being careful.

He thinks he is funny here and is been pretending to pump his boobs...

Points to David for keeping him busy this summer with pool trips, bike and scooter rides in the neighborhood, frequent errands, and playing with friends. I've noticed that David has a little shadow that follows him around to "help" with yard work, cooking, and basically everything these days. (Poor David, ha!) Nico has adopted this new phrase,"guys do guy things," and he will cheerfully say that to me as he runs out the door. I don't know where David gets the energy for all of it sometimes, but I am especially thankful to have adequate time to rest!
