Traffic hit a rough spot half way there, so we let Miley take the wheel.
We were fortunate to get to see Ryan and Jessica on this trip! We went to Ra for sushi and appetizers on Thursday night.
Nico is always trying to get them to kiss and be "lovey dovey." He thinks it's so funny.
On Friday morning, we went to breakfast with Granny Phil in Flower Mound. We back to her apartment to play on the playground and let her spoil Nico with some toys afterwards. She always comments on how amazed she is with Nico's wit and conversation skills and sees a lot of my dad in him.
Friday afternoon was Biagini time! We kept our Christmas tradition going by walking around Main St in Grapevine to see all of the pretty Christmas decorations and have a nice Italian dinner.
I just love how cute this little area of town is during the holidays!
Afterwards, we went back to the house to open presents! Nico had no idea what kind of fun he was in for now.
He was spoiled with plenty of superhero stuff (mainly Captain America), and by far, his highlight was first pair of roller skates!!
He went from just "walking" with one skate on, in a contained area on the living room rug, to putting two on. Then, he had to get all of his gear on (hockey helmet, knee pads, elbow pads) and try to actually skate. This progressed to going in the bathroom so he could do it on the tile. Before you knew it, we were presenting him with flashing lights in the closet and all...
It was absolutely hilarious!! He would have skated all night had we let him. Plenty of laughs that night.
On Saturday, we went to the Gaylord ICE Exhibit for the 2nd year in a row. I was so glad that we could do this again! The theme was Around the World, and every country's traditions were pronounced throughout the exhibit.
Nico loved the ice slide and raced Grandma this year.
Looking for his name on the Nice List.
Hot chocolate was our reward for walking through the 7 degree temperature, and this guy wanted a giant cupcake!
The Gaylord is amazing! We spent a little time walking around to admire the extensive amount of decorations.
It was soon naptime, and we went back home to rest up for our big night out at the Stars' hockey game with Bryan and his new girlfriend. We went to the obvious pick for dinner, Mia's, and headed over to the game. It was free Jamie Benn jersey night, and let me tell you, this meant the world to Nico, as he is starting to really get into hockey!
I love that he still brings his blanket places. It reminds me that he is still my little boy after all, despite seeming to grow up too fast.
Nico was SO into the game. It was really something I won't ever forget. He was on cue with every chant and every goal. He knew what was going on at all times!
His excitement was contagious. It wasn't long before he was recruited down to the row in front of us, because the people couldn't get over how cute he was. He had a fan club. They gave him a toy hockey puck and talked with him throughout the game. With every goal, about half a dozen people would make sure to give him a high five.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that he eventually started cheers for our section. "Dallas... Stars... Dallas... Stars..."
We arrived back in Austin on Sunday afternoon just in time to catch Uncle Neil and family. They had been down visiting my parents this weekend. The kids played for a bit, exchanged presents, and we went to Salt Lick for dinner!
We definitely filled our weekend with a ton of quality time with loved ones! Plenty of great memories!
