Amazing Aspen!

My phone alarm went off in the early morning hours with a note, a present, and an instruction to be ready in an hour! The present included a beanie, scarf, and boots, and the note included the weather forecast and a copy of plane tickets with the destination blacked out.

It wasn't until we arrived the Dallas airport on the connecting flight that I found out that we were going to... Aspen! Whaaaaaat?!

We spent 3 days/nights walking around the cute little city, eating great food, bar hopping, people watching, gondola riding, concert going, and being pampered at the spa. It was a perfect getaway!

We were so fortunate that we had a great connection, my dad's boss, to allow us to stay in his condo right there in the middle of the town! He had his own personal attendant even pick us up at the airport to drive us there, and the Range Rover was offered up to us as part of the stay. We felt like VIPs and had to pinch ourselves a few times.

When you have an expensive condo in Aspen, why would you ever have a regular toilet?!...

I had never been in real, non Texas snow!!! There were some flurries coming down as we pulled into the cute little town. I was pumped.

We went up on the gondola a few times to catch the beautiful views and hang out at the lodge up there.

People watching down here was a highlight. I never got tired of watching the skiers race down the hill! This was a hopping area with live music/DJ a couple of the days.

We treated ourselves to some pretty nice meals all trip! It's a good thing that we were only there 3 days or we may not return with any more $, ha!

We saved the fanciest restaurant for David's birthday celebration. (Because this was David's birthday weekend, he never will let me down that HE planned his "own birthday trip.")

We were sitting up at the bar after a day of walking around the town and glanced through the local newspaper. The band Houndmouth was playing at the Belly Up the following night. I had heard a few of their songs on the radio and liked them, and David had heard about the Belly Up being a go-to venue! It was an awesome decision, and the even opener, Brent Cowles, blew us away! (Even a couple years later as I write this, his songs are on our playlists that we listen to often in the car or at home. And we have seen him twice now in Austin.)
