Yes, I'm aware that I take a TON of pics of Nico running around at the splashpad.
But he's just so cute.
And happy!
...And some gelato afterwards.

Everett's birthday party!
Today was Nico's friend, Everett's, 2nd bday party! Everett is one of the little guys that goes to Misty's house on the same day as Nico. The party was at a jumphouse in Plano and was a perfect place to let 2 year olds get sugared up and run loose! I was excited for Nico as this was his first real birthday party to go to at a place with other kids (and not just a small family get together at home).
Nico had a ton of fun and ran all over the place, pretty much nonstop. He was difficult to handle with the train though and caused my blood pressure to rise. So get this, after the train would start, he would take off his seatbelt and jump off!! I'm not sure why I even gave him a second chance after he did it the first time, but I did. Parenting fail! And ofcourse, the second time yielded the same results. I was one pretty ticked off mama! (And not to mention exhausted. I kid you not, I stopped at Starbucks on the way home! How does David do this every day?!) :)
The craziness continued when we got home, and Napless Nico ran all over the house laughing, playing peek-a-boo, and riding Morgan. P.S. I'm sure gonna miss days like this.

Baseball and swimming
This afternoon, we decided to surprise daddy at his baseball game! It was hotter than heck out there, and Nico went through a snowcone and 2-3 other cups of water. We did bring good luck to David's team, as they have advanced to another championship game!
Here's Nico cheering. He spontaneously would yell, "Goooo daddy!" He actually sat in his stroller for most of the game and actually watched. He's starting to learn what's going on- he would point out when a player would hit the ball or catch it. He insisted on wearing his baseball hat and glove. I love that he already loves baseball.
After the game, we stopped by Grandma and Papa's to take a dip in the pool.

The little details
This picture exemplifies a few of the features that I love most about Nico. Wanted to document these little details that win over my heart every time.
1) Love those long, curled up eyelashes that are noticeable best when he is sleeping.
2) Love those little lips. I think it's the shape.
Despite the fact that he's such a big boy now and is constantly changing by the day, I am brought back to his precious newborn state whenever I watch him sleep.

Sunflower pics
I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful sunflower fields near our home and get some shots of this big guy...
He looks so big, doesn't he?! Nico, stop growing up so fast.

Austin house hunting... Take 2
We found IT!
Because we knew the exact area where we wanted to live, it made round 2 of house hunting a lot quicker. We only spent a few hours in the morning looking over a short list of about 8 houses. We rushed back to our second choice from our previous trip a few weeks ago. It's a new build that was just finished this month. We had our fingers crossed that it would still be available when we came down.
It must have been waiting on us. And we came just in time, because there were supposedly three other buyers coming to look at it that weekend. Looking back, we wonder why we didn't jump on this house the first time, but it was ultimately because it has small deck space. I wrote it off in comparison with the other house that we put an offer on, even though it also gave me that "wow, this is it" feeling when we first walked in. We referred to it as 1B since it was suuuuuch a close 2nd.
Our realtor was clutch in the decision to get this house. After the other house fell through, she remembered how much we loved everything about this house minus the deck. Soooo, she did some research and got a detailed quote from the deck contractor for what it would cost to expand it to the size we desired. The price was a lot less than I anticipated, so with that information and the fact that we both had the "wow" feeling again when we stepped inside, it was pretty much a done decision within minutes.
Whew! We laugh that this all is too good to be true since it's going smoothly this time. (Our McKinney house is moving right along too! Set for closing around July 23.)
This has everything on our checklist and more- a greenbelt to the side and beyond, 2 living areas, 4 bedrooms, an office, and an upgraded kitchen. It has tile throughout the downstairs and has plenty of upgrades. We love it.
The pictures do not do this justice, but there is a beautiful view as you come down the hill toward the house...
After our realtor confirmed that we will be the only offer they accept, and it's basically a done deal, we went to Trudy's for lunch to celebrate!
Later that afternoon, we went to Jack Allen's for a few drinks, followed by Nutty Brown's Café for some live music and more celebrating!
We stayed at my parents house for the weekend, and since they were out of town, Dave & Cindy watched Nico. They took him down to the firehouse since he is all about firetrucks these days. He makes the cutest woo-woo firetruck sound.
We sure do miss him when we are away!

Haircut #2 and a new, fun toy
He did so much better getting his 2nd haircut than his first! He actually sat still for a few minutes- shocking.
On the way home, Nico started saying "go to Walmart," so we figured what the heck. Ten minutes later, we were home with....... his first bike! Of all the toys, he went over to that and seemed really interested.

He still isn't able to pedal himself, so he either sits there and yells for us to push him, or he just uses his feet to walk with it. I have no doubt that Mr. Independent will figure it out soon though!

Snowcones and splashpads
David's not the only one that can have his fun little routine with Nico! I enjoy taking him to get snowcones and then run around in the splashpad about once a week. I know I post a lot about splashpads, but I can't resist taking pics of him there. He is just so happy and cute.
Regan came into town for a few days!...
He's getting braver with the water...
All of these much older kids kept wanting to play with him. They would even come over to him when he was sitting on the side with me. It was kinda funny to watch. He didn't know what to think of it at first, but then they gave him a football, and he fit right in.
