Happy 1st Birthday, Nico!!!

Our baby boy turned ONE!!!

As it was mentioned on multiple occasions at his party on Saturday, I can't believe that he is already one, either. What an amazing year it has been. Thank you, Nico, for making it the best year of our lives.

So of course, we had to throw a birthday bash for the BIG guy. We kept it fairly small with just family- all 4 grandparents, Great Grandma Phyllis, Uncle Ryan, Great Uncle Neil/Great Aunt Amanda/cousin Caitlyn, two proud parents, and the cutest ever little birthday boy.

To start out the day, we went to IHOP for breakfast. Strangely enough, he didn't eat a thing. Not even pancakes- his favorite. He must have been saving extra room for cake. He came home and passed out for an extra long nap, and woke up to find the house decorated and ready for his party! He couldn't get enough of the balloons! His reaction was sooo cute.

 

Note to self: buy balloons, NOT toys anymore, to keep child entertained for hours!

 

Nico went with the casually late approach to his own birthday party, and took another long nap in the afternoon. When he did make his appearance, he was very shy, hiding behind the kitchen counter initially to feel everybody out...

Then the party began! Bring on the gift opening...

We pretty much hung out for most of the afternoon and watched Nico play with all of those new toys. David cooked different types of sliders, and we had chips, fruit, and hummus with pita bread to munch on. It was a really fun afternoon with family!

I'd say this party was a success! Can't explain how much I love this boy. If he could grow up a little bit slower, that would be alright with me. Anxious to see what new, exciting adventures year #2 will bring...
