A smiley guy
70 degrees in the middle of February meant we just HAD to go outside to play some today! Nico was so smiley and happy, so I was able to get some really cute pics of him (not that I'm biased or anything)...
Our First Urgent Care Experience
We should have known that something was up when Nico slept a majority of the day AND night all of last weekend! By Sunday night, he was burning up big time and his face was very flushed. We measured a temp of 103.2! In typical new parent fashion, I freaked out and immediately decided to drive to the urgent care down the street without even waiting for our doctor to call us back. They measured his temp closer to 101, so that was a relief. His checkup didn't reveal anything obvious other than a slightly red throat (but negative strep test), so they just suggested to give him Tylenol or Motrin. It's currently Day 3 and Nico is back to his normal self. He responded pretty well to Tylenol and the teething tablets and only gave us a few frustrating episodes in the middle of the night. We think we can see a few little teeth about to come through on the top, which may explain the recent events! Never a dull moment or too consistent of a schedule with this guy.
I do have to admit that on a selfish note, it was nice to be able to comfort him and hold him when he was feeling badly. It's not too often anymore that he will comfortably curl up in my arms. I miss that.

A family get together
Last night, we had our parents and Patty Ann & Tim over, and it was a great time! We are starting to feel like mature, old adults with this inviting our parents over for dinner stuff. Ha! David cooked some tasty food, and we just hung out, had some drinks, and starred at the baby! For appetizers, we had a few different dips and sliders, and dinner was shrimp and gnocchi with asparagus in a vodka sauce. (Before I met David, I wouldn't have been able to tell you what the heck gnocchi was, much less spell it!)

A great week: establishing a routine!
Nico has had his best, most consistent week yet! I guess all it took was venting about our non-existing schedule in last week's blog post. Hmm.. what else can I wish for out loud?!
He has slept 11-12 hours most nights. Bedtime between 6:45 and 7:30. Wakes up around 7:30. It's awesome to get such a great night's sleep. I do kinda miss getting up to see the little guy sometimes.
He eats his meals around the same time and naps more predictably too- once in the morning and once in the afternoon. It's so nice to have a routine.
He loves to eat! Foods tried so far: rice cereal, bananas, apples, sweet potatoes, green beans.
Nico's 1st Super Bowl... He has learned early to root against any team from New York.
