Go Coach David!

While I am on my "hooray for David" kick, I might as well use this as an opportunity to brag on his baseball efforts! David's team played great this summer. They won a few big tournaments and had a good showing in Alabama too.

He is such a great coach and has been a role model for the boys. I had to include this pic that one of his former player's mothers shared with him. This kid is one of the best players in the area and check out who he listed as his role model in his senior year media guide bio page...

 

 

Really proud of the hard work he puts in to both teaching baseball and helping them develop off the field too. He keeps in touch with many former players too and it's not uncommon for him to get texts throughout the season to talk through a slump or even about off the field stuff.  It's obvious that he loves what he does. It makes me happy to see that!

 

 

Trying to stay afloat!

This past week has been CRAZY! A few more days until the big move and guess what, David has been out of town for 7 straight days for a baseball tournament in Alabama. Nice timing, huh?!

 

I definitely have a new respect for single parents. Between the new routine of taking and picking Nico up from Misty's every day, to daily phone calls and emails to deal with the final paperwork on both houses, to having to make our house spotless and get the dogs off to doggy day care because the potential buyers are unexpectedly stopping by again, and still working a full week. I'm a little stressed out.

 

And although I don't like to always admit it, I am so thankful and even more appreciative now of all of David's efforts! So, thank you David! Couldn't do all of this without you. And get back here SOON!

Daddy's last McKinney hockey game

Nico made an appearance at David's last hockey game before the move. He gets so excited about going and has to bring his stick and puck... and don't you dare forget his blanket.

 

 

He will ask me to hold him up to the glass for about half of the game, and he will spend the other half practicing his slapshot. He's such a stud already (not like I'm biased or anything).

 

 

And within minutes of putting him into bed, he's out...

 



McKinney Trade Days

Before the heat set in too much today, we got out of the house and walked around McKinney trade days. Nico would say that the highlights of his trip were seeing all of the animals, riding the train, and getting a snowcone.

There are always a lot of puppies there and who doesn't love puppies? Nico got to pet some little chicks too.

Here's his mischievous "I know I shouldn't pour the water on my head but I'm going to watch your reaction and do it anyways" type look. He's still not capable of holding onto drinks without lids.

Choo choo. Woo woo. Nico enjoyed waving to people along the way.

 

He's definitely had his share of snowcones this summer. 

 

 

 Ryan was in town this weekend and met up with us for a drink at the Londoner and pizza at Grimaldi's. Nico stayed occupied with dough while waiting for dinner.

 

One of our fav spots

When I made a short list of the places I'd like to go again before we leave, Ra definitely was at the top of the list. Best. Sushi. Ever.

Nico likes this place too. We don't even go there very often, but he immediately recognizes it and will say "green peas" (meaning edamame) and "potstickers" when we walk in. What 2 year old walks into a sushi restaurant and knows he wants edamame and potstickers?! That's our Nico. This kid doesn't miss a beat.

In typical Nico fashion, he wanted to wear his baseball glove in the car AND bring it in the restaurant.

 

 

 

He always does a good job here of staying in his high chair and eating well. A majority of the time, he will eat an entire order of edamame and potstickers. Not sure where he puts it.

Back to the jumphouse

Today was another Mommy-Nico day while David had baseball! We spent it jumpin around at the jumphouse, going on a Walmart trip, and eating at McDonald's.


He liked spinning around in this thing.

I got him a few tokens that he inserted in a machine to win a few tiny prizes. He carried these 3 prizes with him the ENTIRE time. He was cracking me up with his determination to hold onto these, or atleast know where they were, as he climbed and jumped around.

 

Lunch at McDonald's. Hey, atleast they give apples now.

He's got "cheeeeeese" down as soon as I point my phone at him.

I really enjoy our cuddle time on the couch sine he doesn't sit still much!

And after a full day of playing and errands, this is what I call success...

 

Roughrider's Game!

We just HAD to take Nico to another Roughrider's game before the big move. He hadn't been since last fall when he was just over a year old. It's such a fun, family oriented environment.

He did really well! He started off by running off some energy at the playground there. Then, he watched a good 1/3 of the game before wanting to run around again. David took him up behind the bleachers for the next few innings, and he stayed entertained. He loooooved watching Deuce, the goofy animal mascot.

 

 

 

As a cool sidenote......During the game, my parents drove by our soon-to-be Austin home and this is what they saw in the greenbelt just nextdoor to the house. How cool is this?! Definitely not something we are used to in McKinney...

 

When we got home from the game, Nico sat on the couch and decided to give some of his milk to Poohbear and Froggie before he went to bed. Had to capture this cute moment.

Happy 4th of July!

We had a really fun, busy 4th of July weekend! It started with the Downtown McKinney parade on Saturday. We walked around and people watched, saw the parade (Nico loved all of the classic 40's and 50's cars that would rev their engines and also the horsies.) Then we grabbed a bite to eat on the square at Churchill's.

 

After naptime, Dave and Cindy came over to hang out in the backyard, treat us to Matt's Rancho Martinez for dinner, and watch fireworks just down the street at Craig Ranch.

While waiting for the fireworks show, Nico was determined to join in with some guys nearby and throw the football around too. Such a little jock.

The fireworks experience was a little disappointing. We thought they would begin around 9, and they actually didn't get started until 9:45! Needless to say, it was wayyyy past Nico's bedtime. Probably not the best idea to try to keep him awake, but we had been talking about it with him all day and figured it was a special occasion. He actually stayed awake right up until they began, and then he got a little scared and decided to sleep in the car. Poor guy. Maybe next year.
