Post Thanksgiving UT football game

We have found our way at the UT football game on the day after Thanksgiving for most of the years that we have lived here! It's always nice to get out for at least one game every season. It was a perfect day for some tailgating and football watchin' against Tx Tech!

We headed downtown around 11, as we decided that was the earliest acceptable time to begin drinking. We started at Schultz Garden.

David's former player, Nico (or as our Nico calls him, "Big Nico") invited us over for some partying at his frat house again this year, and we continued to feel like some of the oldest people there.

That didn't stop me from shot gunning a beer like an old woman. It was a fun atmosphere there as a big UT basketball game was happening on tv at that time too.

Thanksgiving

It's another year with a lot to be thankful for. We spent our day in usual fashion at our house with a deep friend turkey, football, and family!

Nico loves injecting the turkey the night before. Soon, he'll be the one doing all of the cooking for us!

My mom is dangerous now that she uses Pinterest.

My world.

I'm not really sure what's going on here and why.

The best meal of the year.

Yep, she still makes this face often. Love it.

Nashville girls' trip!

I couldn't have had a better time with my college BFF, Regan, had I tried. We were long overdue to see each other, so I booked a flight and had a nice little weekend getaway!

I got in on a Thursday night, and we went out to a nearby karaoke bar to have a few drinks and basically make fun of people.

Friday was Nashville day! We took a bus tour around to get a feel of the city before bar hopping through their main entertainment district all afternoon and night!

Lower Broadway is where it's at.

I was pretty pumped to try a cider that actually had fireball in it too...

We tried to follow the "1 drink per place" rule so we could check out as many different places as we could. I'd say we get an A+, as we had to have gone to at least 75% of the bars down there! It is such a fun city, and the live music was impressive too! We sang, we danced, and we had a blast.

After our long night of staying up way past our bedtimes, we pulled a typical Jess/Regan college day which means doing basically nothing. We watched a couple movies in our pajamas and stayed home most of the day!

It was a great weekend with a great friend!

Rays fall baseball: 1st season of coaches pitch!

Nico couldn't wait to play coaches pitch this fall. He has been hitting pitched balls to him for a few years now whenever we've played around in the backyard, and now it's his time to do it for real! When he wasn't hitting our wiffle balls (and he's to the point now that we can't even play in the backyard, because he just hits them all over the fence...), he was down the street frequently at Home Run House. They had a $5 "hit night" every Friday that he loved going to, and of course, Coach Daddy took him up there to rent cages too.

Coach here would take 20 minutes to make his lineup and have the scorebook ready. ;) Not competitive or anything.

They had a great season and won every regular season game (about 15 of them) but ran out of gas in the playoffs! They learned a lot, had fun, and David achieved his goal of having every kid wanting to continue playing baseball another season beyond this one.

Nico had the best time and played with 4 of his buddies from the tball All Star team. (David still isn't sure how he pulled that off in the draft to keep them all together.) Nico mainly played 2nd base but was rotated a little to other infield positions too. He really improved on defense with his ability to catch balls in the air.

I'm only slightly biased, but I think he was the best and most consistent hitter in the league...and he was 1-2 years younger than everyone! This is a typical Nico shot to the outfield. He may have only gotten out a few times all season long.

He had a number of fans come out for his games, including Papa and Grandma for opening weekend!

Grandma and Grandpa made a handful of the games to cheer him on.

Great Granny Phyll made it to a few games and kept saying, "I really think this kid has a future in baseball." Ha.

Proud of these two. It was a fun season to watch.
