Memorial Day

It was a great Memorial Day weekend! When we weren't out at the ball fields watching Nico's 1st All Star tournament (update on his All Star season coming soon...), we were creating fun elsewhere! Dave and Cindy came down to join in on the action. We started our Friday afternoon out at Via 313, since it was close to the Oak Hill ballpark.

Nico had been wired for his game all day and made sure to play catch with Papa and show them how fast he can run.

Nico didn't have to play until later on Saturday, so we were able to get out for lunch to Ski Shores Café! Always a good time when you've got a lakeside view.

We went to dinner with the team on Saturday after the game and played again on Sunday afternoon. Nico's fans got in 3 games before the rain hit on Sunday night.

They all got their usual morning walks in though.

We had been predicting rain anyway, so Dave and Cindy stayed back to start up the crab boil for Sunday night!

Cheers to 8 Years!

It was my turn to plan our anniversary date this year, and what better than a full day exploring Austin! After being dropped off by our uber driver, who I also have been known to call dad, we grabbed a bite to eat and kicked off the day with a segway tour!

We did our practice drives around the capital building and then toured all over downtown. Our guide was pretty entertaining and had us stop at certain landmarks to tell stories. We learned a lot of cool things about this town we love. We made it as far south as the South Congress Bridge in the hour and a half tour!

We went to our usual spot that we like to go when we are kid-free, Ra, for a few sushi rolls and refreshing drinks.

Franks was calling our name across the street, and it was the perfect opportunity to give this famous joint a try. We pigged out and split one of their dogs (just out of the principle that that's what you're supposed to get when you go there...)

For the next few hours, we wandered around to a couple other bars downtown and on Rainey Street.

There was only so much bar hopping that we could do, so David figured, "hey, let's go to the UT baseball game!"

It was a perfect day of doing some of our favorite things. We may have even been home by 9. A lot different of an 8th anniversary compared to the 1st!

Touch a Truck!

It was our first experience at the annual Touch a Truck event at Camp Mabry, where you can climb in nearly 100 different vehicles, listen to music, play games, and eat at the food trucks. We spent a good few hours wandering around before the heat led us back to our car!

The 1st P Terry's burger today for all of us...not bad. Nico worked up an appetite and had 2!

When he saw Batman here, he wanted to see if he had bigger muscles. How fitting that he wore the Batman tank.

Our little thinker asked a lot of questions and was very concerned about where the oxygen tank was located in the ambulance.

His 1st 7-11 slurpee today. He was dying for a drink on the way home.

We went home for naps before meeting my parents over at the Rusty Mule for some drinks and a bite to eat. It's Nico's favorite place around.

Happy Mama's Day to me!

It was another great Mother's Day with the family, and I felt so loved and spoiled. Nico's homemade gifts are the best, coupled with a bouquet of flowers and my favorite breakfast, eggs benedict.

We spent the day just hanging around the house and eventually went over to my parents to meet up and go out to eat at Roaring Fork! I actually ordered chicken at a steakhouse, and it may have been one of the best meals I've ever had. We sure had some nice quality time today.

Sooo... I'm not sure how I didn't get a picture with MY mom, so I'm throwin' it back to the summer of '14. Mom, thanks for being a great example. So fortunate to have you as my mom. P.S. We need to take more pics.
