School's... out... for... summer!

Nico had his last day of preschool (3 year old class) today! What a difference a year makes in the last day of school pic vs. first day!

There was a brief graduation and program put on by the kids. I was amazed at Nico's participation! He sang and followed along to nearly all of it. The funniest and coolest part, by far, was how enthusiastic he was over the spanish song. I wish I would have video taped it.

Here's the look he gave us when he found us. He was so proud.

His teacher, Mrs. Carla, was so caring and helpful to help his first year of "school" go by relatively smoothly. Nico really liked her!

My parents and we went to Nutty Brown CafĂ© afterwards to celebrate! One year of school down and 15 years to go until graduation! (But please, time, please move slowly.)

Happy 6th Anniversary to us!

I love pulling off little surprises for David, especially for special events like our anniversary! I think I get this quality from my parents, since they are always doing this kind of stuff. When I was much younger, I remember hearing about my dad packing my mom's bag and giving her notes during the car ride to hint where they are going. I totally copied them.

I led David on to believe that we were keeping it local for a dinner date, but I actually came home about 10 a.m. with my mom on her way shortly thereafter to pick up Nico. (David had previously asked if she could watch Nico while he play hockey that day, but I had her lie to him and say that she wasn't available until our plans at 4 p.m.) When she rang the doorbell, he was totally confused. I told him that we had a day date planned, and he admitted later to thinking it was Top Golf or some downtown stops. When I turned west onto highway 290 and then also turned into the Dripping Springs downtown area, he was even more confused. I let the cat out of the bag then, and I gave him some papers there in a parking lot, which had details of our San Antonio hotel and some other fun stops that we could go to! He was pretty excited. We had never been out together in San Antonio!

He "forced" me to go see the Alamo, so we could say that we did something historically important (and didn't just come down here to drink!)

We toured around and landed at a spot right on the riverwalk for some brunch.

There was only one small part of the trip that wasn't perfect. I had intended on us catching a romantic ferry boat to head north to the Pearl Brewery district, but we ended up walking too far and missed the area where we were to catch the boat. This resulted in calling a cab due to my new, cheap sandals just killing my feet and knowing that I couldn't complete the rest of the walk up there. So lame, I know.

Pearl Brewery district was really cool. It's a trendy area with various bars and restaurants that is known for elaborate, chef prepared meals and fancy drinks. We stopped in a couple different bars there and actually spent a majority of our afternoon watching some of the women's college world series! So typical, right? We were glad that we did since the ULL game went into extra innings and was an intense one!

I had dinner reservations at a 5 star Italian restaurant, Il Sogno Osteria, that I knew would be right up David's alley. Major points for me. Dinner was awesome and so filling that we actually couldn't even order a main course once the time came!

We hopped in a cab back to our hotel area and with plans of going to a dueling piano bar. Little did we know that we would stay there nearly 4 hours, singing the night away!

We had an awesome day. Not sure how this man has put up with me for 6 years (plus another 3 prior to getting married), but he deserves an award for this. Love you, David.

Pool season is here!

So you know what that means... there have been daily (and sometimes twice daily) trips to the POOL!...

This guy LOVES the water!

Dave Matthew's concert

Dave Matthew's decided to kick off his summer tour in Austin! We grabbed some subs and headed down for a little tailgating action with our usual DMB groupies, Mike and Rosa.

I got a kick out of this bumper sticker that vendors gave us, since my dad has claimed this to be our one family rule on multiple occasions...

I think this may be my 6th-7th show now and David's mid to high 20-something show! Always a good time.

Happy Mother's Day!

Our San Antonio trip came to an end on Sunday morning, which was Mother's Day! Nico was so cute and made me feel so special. He brought me a rose this morning and bashfully said, "Happy Mother's Day, mama!"

We had a nice brunch at the hotel before getting back on the road to head home. Today was an extra nice day, because both David and I got to spend some of it with our mamas!

For dinner, we met my parents at the new pizza joint in town, Via 313! We were all impressed, and it may be one of our regular pizza places now.

I thank God just about every single day that I get to be Nico's mom! It's the best job in the world. And I also have been given the best mom around to learn how it's done.

Sea World Trip with the Biagini's

Our road trip down to Sea World included a pit stop at Driftwood Winery to have a glass of wine and show off the beautiful view here to Dave and Cindy!

We checked into our hotel late afternoon and were steered to one of David's favorite Mexican restaurants, La Fogata! The margaritas were awesome- maybe even better than Mia's!

We went back to the hotel for some pool and hot tub action. Nico loved being a crazy man and jumping into the water! He was showing off his swimming skills.

Sea World on Saturday was an absolute blast. I always feel like a kid again when we do these things! We went to a couple of the shows, Shamu and Baluga Whales, and walked around a majority of the park. We spent a lot of time in the kids' section with water fun and rides too!

Of course, this spoiled boy got a new bubble gun and enjoyed shooting us all while waiting for the Shamu show to start!

One of my highlights was riding on the rollercoaster with Nico. It went pretty high up and was quick to come down! We were soaked! I also loved watching him stand by the bridge afterwards to get splashed, which basically turned into mostly trying to run from the big splash! I think we watched him do that for 10-15 min and laughed every time.

They had a really cool kid zone that we didn't get to try last year because of the weather. It features plenty of climbing areas and a large splash pad area. He ran around like he owned the place, and it was difficult to keep all 8 of our eyes on him!

He then went on a few of the rides with Grandma.

This picture below cracks me up. For the first few spins around, he continuously waved and smiled at us. But then, he decided to keep a serious face and look straight ahead whenever the carousel came around near us. After it passed, he would crack up laughing like it was the funniest thing to ignore us and not wave!

We saw the Baluga Whale show toward the end of our day and finished up with the gift shop for a Shamu shirt and a toy whale and dolphin!

We went back to the pool AGAIN after Sea World, and Nico was full of energy as always! We all bet that he would pass out before we left the parking lot, but his squeaky new dolphin and whale toys entertained him enough to keep him awake! At the pool, Dave kept jokingly giving him new last names (Nico Biagini Rodriguez Perez...) since he kept befriending other kids and families and joining right in to play with them just like he knew them! We think he may have snuck in a family group photo. He was Mr. Social to the extreme!

We walked down to Pappasito's for dinner, and this is when Nico's exhaustion kicked in! He slept all the way through dinner.

Such a fun-filled little getaway weekend!!

Just another fun weekend!

It's May! Bring on the summer.

On Friday night, I went with my parents and their friends, Wil and Christine, downtown to a sushi restaurant followed by a wine bar! We originally were planning on having a girls' night after the guys went to their concert, but we settled on taking Uber back to my house to hang for a more lowkey night.

Saturday morning started at Abel's with mimosas and Texas teas in hand! The weather was just too perfect NOT to do this!

He says "cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese" wonderfully, but often forgets to look at the camera.

We went over to my parent's house for dinner on Saturday night to hang out more with Wil and Christine. Nico was Christine's little buddy and played with her a lot of the time. He even had her outside golfing with him.

On Sunday, we made our first trip of the year to the neighborhood pool. It was a booming place! The water was still really, really cold, so notice that all of the adults are just congregated on the side!

Despite his lips being a light shade of blue, plus some shivering, he was determined to get in for a brief amount of time with his friends!
