Mommy and Nico park day

I came home from work today and decided to take Nico to Dick Nichols park, just a handful of miles down the street, where he could run around in the sand and play on the playground. I love watching him play outdoors and be so happy!

He is getting ready for the Florida sand next week!

After returning from the park, here is reason #467 why David is a keeper.

Since Nico takes mainly showers now, it's a special event now when he takes a bath. I only offer when I feel that I have the extra energy and patience to deal with potential splashing and craziness! Tonight, he was showing off some of his swimming skills like putting his head under water, blowing bubbles, and floating on his back. (Maybe the swimming lessons will eventually pay off?!) And he made sure some of these specially chosen cars had their carwash.

Mickey time before bed.

Blanket, check. Left thumb, check.

Just soaking in all this time that I can while he is still a little guy.

A relaxing weekend

David and Nico went up to Dallas for the weekend to watch his old baseball team play and see his parents, so I had a weekend of relaxing and pampering! After some shopping and a massage on Friday, my parents treated me to dinner on Saturday at a fancy downtown steakhouse, Perry's! I have to admit, my parents are pretty cool. (Never thought I would admit that in writing.)

Here's Nico focusing on some of the baseball game! He looks so grown up to me in this picture. It was nice that David went out of his way to go see his old team play. Those boys mean so much to him.

Easter weekend

Nico was SO excited when he woke up and realized that the Easter bunny had visited!

The bunny made a trail of eggs from outside the door of his room to the living room, where his basket and gifts were waiting.

The assembled racetrack...

We waited for Grandma and Grandpa to come over after his nap and we had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard. He was so patient with this and opened each egg right when he found it.

followed by some baseball ofcourse...

David's dinner was absolutely awesome (as if there was ever a doubt)! The menu consisted of prime rib, yorkshire pudding, cheesy potatoes, and green beans.

We went over to Derek's house on Sunday so the boys could do an Easter egg hunt together and dye some eggs!

This was, surprisingly, not as messy of an activity as one would have thought! They had a blast.

It was a great weekend hanging out with family and friends! I love introducing Nico to all of these holiday traditions!

The obligatory, annual bluebonnet pic

The bluebonnets are everywhere down here. Makes for pretty drives throughout the hill country and on the highways!

Sea World!

We had a BLAST at Sea World! Not sure who had more fun- us or Nico. We caught all 3 of their shows and saw every exhibit within about a 4 hour span. It was so cool to see Nico's eyes light up at some of these new animals that he hasn't ever seen in real life.

The sea lion and walrus show was so entertaining and cute...

The whales...

And dolphins...

Nico was pumped about the flamingos and ducks too. He got to feed the ducks, and it was difficult telling him we had to move on to the next thing!

There had to have been at least 200 penguins in this massive cage...

Nico's highlight may have been this bubble gun. A lot of kids had one, so we fell to peer pressure. He terrorized just about anyone that walked by. It was seriously funny.

Petting the dolphins...

And here's our little fam! Today was so fun.

Stick a fork in him, he's done! (Like the wide open mouth sleeping? He is definitely my child.)
