My BFF Regan came in town to visit! Woo hoo!
For as much as Nico loves Regan, he loves playing with her dog, Bentley, even more! Here's the goofball pretending to be a dog.
Regan and I went to the Randy Rogers' Band concert on Friday. It was in the ideal location, just across the street from our neighborhood at Nutty Brown Café. It was even sold out at 4000 people. I was impressed! It was a great concert, and they played all the songs we knew and more.
On Saturday, Regan and I went to Shady Grove and Jack Allens for a few hours in the afternoon to relax, grab some snacks, and catch up on some much needed girls' time!
Later in the day, we went to Salt Lick BBQ with David and Nico for dinner. Can you say, food coma?!

Happy Birthday, David!
We celebrated David's birthday a week early with his parents, since this timing worked out best for everyone. It was another fun-filled Austin weekend with Abel's on the Lake being the main highlight of Saturday. Couldn't have asked for a better table, right where Nico could stay plenty entertained!
We hung out at the house for the remainder of the weekend and had a nice steak and lobster tail dinner on Saturday night.
It's not a birthday celebration without the cake!

And on David's actual birthday a week later, I just had to go buy a single serving of cake since we were pigs ate the rest of the big one, along with a card and a balloon.
And to top it off, David's team won their league championship this week! David scored "too many" goals in this league, so he is being forced to move on up! Pretty cool.

Granny Phil
My Grandma Elson came down for her first trip to Austin! She was very adamant that she wanted Nico to call her, "Granny Phil!"
Nico received his very first piano lesson within minutes of our first hangout!
We took her to the infamous Salt Lick BBQ for dinner one night.
She was in town all week, so we hung out with her a few different times. They all came over to our house for dinner one night, and she also spent another afternoon with Nico because she really was looking forward to taking him to McDonalds.
He loved her right away and wasn't too withdrawn. For days after she left, he kept asking, "Where's Granny Phil?!" She thought he was very advanced and talked like a 10 year old. He reminded her of my dad in many ways.

Derek's 3rd Birthday Party
Derek had the cutest pirate themed birthday party at his house on Saturday. Nico had a blast getting sugared up and running around wild!
They were highly entertained with the bubble machine coming down from the second floor.
Watch out for these pirates.
Here's his meanest pirate face.
A little treasure hunt in the sandbox.
During present opening time, Nico just didn't understand that they weren't his presents. Needless to say, after multiple attempts of trying to get him to back off, he was put in timeout at our house for a while!
We brought him back to sing happy birthday and eat a cupcake with his buddy!

Other things we have been up to lately
Searching for bugs.
Riding bikes at Walmart.
Reading lots of books in the playroom (pronounced PAY-room) closet.
Time for another haircut.
Riding tractors at Home Depot.
Feeding ducks at Abel's on the Lake.
Derek time.
Giving the Hot Wheels cars a carwash during every shower.
King cake.
Being goofy.
A table-ruining crab boil. (But it was replaced!)
Dressing up in mommy's shoes and hats.
Assistant to the cook.
The start of swimming lessons at the YMCA.
(Incase you are wondering how these are going, no description is needed. The picture is enough.)

Austin Children's Museum, the Thinkery
The children's museum was seriously cool, even if you aren't a kid. We could have spent the entire day there with the wide variety of play areas and activities to do!
Recognize anyone on the flashing faces board?
Nico loved the water section the most. He threw 2 year old fit when we made him leave.
He was focused on getting ALL of the ducks in there.
Building and climbing.
He picked out some food from the supermarket and cooked for us.
There were plenty of science-based activities to do that caught his eye too.
Second favorite part of his day, the DRUMS!
We will definitely be making a trip back here!
