2.5
Nico had his 2 1/2 year old checkup today and couldn't have been any more adorable. He insisted on taking his doctor's bag with him today. He carried it so proudly into the office.
He was talking up a storm and was the friendliest little guy to both the nurse and the doctor. The doctor was impressed with his talking, as most people tend to comment on. He thanked them after just about every little part of their exams. After the doctor used her stethoscope, he pulled his out and said "Just like mine!" It was really cute to watch.
Some of my favorite little details about 2.5 year old Nico include...
1. "My doesn't want ___." I don't have the heart to correct his grammar on this sentence because it sounds so cute.
2. He calls music more like "mus-get" and same as above, no corrections are attempted on this one either!
3. He says thank you very often and proudly. He says please some too.
4. His persistent nature. He knows what he wants and doesn't stop until he gets it. A lot of that energy goes into asking to play with Derek or wanting to watch Mickey Mouse.
5. His cuddliness. He always wants to sit right close next to me when we watch tv. Sometimes I will sit down a little ways away, and he still works his way over to me so I can put my arm around him.
6. He has a big heart. He tells me that he loves me all on his own, which melts my heart every time. He makes sure he sends me off in the morning with plenty of kisses, high fives, and knuckles. He now tells me to be careful all on his own (after getting used to the routine of David telling him to say that). He will often say something like "mommy go to work and see patients and then come back and see Nico." And here's a good one worth remembering... he broke his little toy motorcycle the other day and after I fixed it, he came over to me and said, "You're the best, mama. You're the best." It was just so genuine and caught me completely off guard. I wrote that one down right away.
7. His adult-like conversations. You never know what he's going to come up with next. He has a really good memory and will say something days after just hearing it for the first time.
8. When he's eating and blurts out, "Mmmm this is delicious" or "My love this!"
9. His energy. He rarely sits still. He's all boy.
10. His love for the dogs. He will often kiss or pet them, and also tell them they are being good girls.
11. I enjoy this phase that you can ask him questions and give him options, and he is able to give his opinion. That helps out with meals and finding things to do.
12. He is happy 99% of the time. He has such a cheerful attitude and is a lot of fun to be around. He is often smiling and laughing, just as he has been since he was a baby. I hope this quality stays with him always!

A Picnic in the Park
Emily and I took the boys to the "big park," as they call it this past Sunday. They were in heaven with a huge beach volleball court (or as they called the big sandbox), along with a couple playgrounds and some trails to run around on. Jason and David were out running an errand and dropped off lunch for us to have there. It was a fun little day, and I know the boys had a blast!
Here they are cruisin around the neighborhood before we left.
We pulled them around in the wagon for a little bit before they built up their energy to run around like crazy.

Snow day
He had a blast in the "snow." All schools were shut down today because the roads were slick, and there was no way that I was going to drive around in this today! We went outside briefly, and Nico enjoyed sliding around in the driveway and throwing the small amounts he could get in his hands. By mid afternoon, it was all melted. Pretty boring.

Hide and seek
I have to share the story that is associated with this picture.
Nico usually stands right by me when I have to use the bathroom. This time, for some reason, he wouldn't. I figured, what the heck, I can be quick and it shouldn't be a problem! After a minute, the house is dead silent. I yell Nico multiple times from the bathroom and hear nothing back. In panic mode, I rush off the toilet and run around the house trying to find him. I go into nearly every room, until I come back out to the living room, and this is what I notice. I had missed it initially. How funny is this guy? He is all about hiding these days.

A gorgeous weekend
It has been kinda cold here lately, so we took advantage of this sunny weekend to do some Top Golf and playing outside! My mom watched Nico while David and I got out for a few hours to drink some beer and hit some golf balls.

Nico loves getting around in his jeep. We just recently figured out how to make it go 5 mph instead of 2.5 and let me tell you, it is a freaking workout following this guy around! He has figured out how to steer well most of the time, but sometimes he gets distracted and veers towards the curbs.

Today, he insisted that he would drive his own jeep and that daddy would drive his.

Amusement park fun
We hit the jackpot with this little amusement park that we found in town. There are plenty of rides, a carousel, a pony ride, miniature golf, and a train that circles around the place. He didn't have a favorite- he loved them all! I think Nico would choose to live here if he could.
I can see more trips here in our future!

Go Green
Whenever there is a team with green jerseys on tv, he will yell, "go green!" and expect us to yell, "go white." Then after a few times of that, he likes to switch. He thinks he is pretty cool. We were watching the Spartans conference championship today, so it was only appropriate for him to wear his jersey.

It's love.
I love cuddling with this guy on the couch. We eat our cereal together in the mornings and watch Mickey/movies together at night. It's our thing.
