Bathroom attack

If there are any guarantees with having a toddler, it's that you will rarely be able to go to the bathroom alone.

Into the bathroom walked this guy this morning...

Toadies, part 2

Toadies came to town the day after Christmas, and after a few drinks last night, the idea to go with my dad sounded better and better! We just went this past summer, but I feel it's one of those things we have had in common from my years growing up, so why not go again? It's not too often that we have time just the two of us.

It was my first trip to Emos. The band was great. Played all of their hits. What was not so great was the intense mosh pit. Definitely a new experience for me! We started off with 2nd row views from center stage and we were soon moving our way further and further out to avoid being seriously shoved into or beer spilled on. Ugh! I'm too old for this, I suppose!

Thanks for a fun night, dad!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!! This long-awaited day is finally here! Surprisingly, Nico didn't get up insanely early with excitement. He slept in until 7:30! Who would have thought?!

When we installed the gas longs a few weeks ago (thank you to Dave and Cindy for our early Christmas gift), Nico was very concerned about how Santa was going to get down the chimney. Fortunately for us, Santa found a way.

He must have been a good boy, because he made out nicely again this year with tons of presents! Christmas with a 3 year old is awesome. Loved his reactions to it all!

After he realized what each gift was, he was anxious to get to the next one. There was no time wasted with opening any particular gift right then. His favorites seemed to be Hungry Hungry Hippos, the Nerf bow and arrow, and the helicopter.

He played with his new toys for an hour or so, and then, it was off to Grandma and Grandpa's house for my dad's famous french toast and a continuation of our Christmas with my family.

We thoroughly enjoyed giving my mom a hard time for her fancy mimosa bar and attributed it to Jessica being in town and her "desire to impress."

This guy was anxious to get to the gifts!

My favorite reaction of the day to his giant tractor.

Nico completed his Ninja Turtles set with 4 other characters and a giant playset. He also got many other gifts from my parents, Ryan and Jessica, and both sets of great grandparents that it was hard to keep track of everything. My favorite gifts were the latte machine and the cutest framed picture of Nico that my parents took. David's were the Jack Allen's cookbook and soccer XBOX game.

Here's that picture that made me tear up...

I love my little family.

Pic courtesy of Nico.

We had a few rematches of Jenga and Cards against Humanity.

This led to shots.

And a little backyard golfing.

They crack me up.

Had a nice traditional ham dinner with all of the usual sides. Nico especially enjoyed jello jiggers for dessert.

I had the no-makeup look going all day, thanks to my intense itchy eyes from cedar fever! Ugh!

Take 1 of 2 of the end of night group selfie photo. This involved me going midway up the stairs, hitting the camera button, and sprinting back down to make it in time. It was difficult to keep a straight face at this point in the night.

Take 2.

Another memorable Christmas with the ones we love. Life is good.

The Elson Christmas "Eves"

The Elson festivities kicked off on Christmas Eve Eve with a trip to the beautiful Driftwood Estates Winery, followed by dinner at Trittoria Lisina!

These guys?!...

A little playground time after dinner.

Christmas Eve consisted of hanging out at my parent's house with munchies, drinking, dancing, music, and intense games of Jenga and Cards Against Humanity.

What a fun day. When we got home, we reminded Nico to put out cookies and milk for Santa, and he had to remind us that we needed carrots for the reindoor too!

Oh the suspense. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!.............

The Biagini Christmas

We had an extended Christmas weekend with Dave and Cindy this past weekend! On Friday night, we had dinner reservations at Creek Road Café, which is our favorite Dripping Springs restaurant. After David had the porkchop of his life, he put it on our short list to take his parents to next time they came down! It did not disappoint, and dinner was perfect.

Dave told Nico that he had Santa's phone number, and he called him a few times during dinner just to update him on Nico's behavior when his listening was getting questionable. Ha!

On Saturday morning, Nico woke up and was an immediate helper in the kitchen. With the Biagini's in town, that means it's an entire day of cooking! It was so cute to see him in action. I think he already knows more than me. And for that reason, I chose to be the wine drinker and photographer during this process.

He learned how to make gnocci today and contributed to nearly every part.

He sure wasn't happy when David cut in on his jobs...

I would say that the importance of good food and carrying on the tradition of Italian recipes is already engraved within Nico's DNA. His middle name isn't Arnold for nothin'.

He took a break from the kitchen to also cook out on the grill with Papa.

After we had an amazing gnocci and lobster dinner, it was time for gift opening! He was most excited about all of the Ninja Turtles stuff (all 4 turtles, plus 3 different vehicles), a fishing rod and tackle box, and marshmallow shooters.

It was a nice Christmas with the Biagini family!
