Happy Halloween! Nico's 1st trick-or-treating

Isn't he the cutest Thomas the Train that you've ever seen? He picked this out himself, when David took him to Party City and told him to pick any costume on their big wall.

We started off our trick-or-treating with a quick trip to my parent's house. He got to practice his doorbell ringing, which he was pumped about.

We then came back home and walked around the neighborhood with Derek's family. While we did get a little late of a start just past 7, those 2 little guys were the last ones standing!! They made it until nearly 8:30 and couldn't have had a better time ringing doorbells and getting candy.

I was so proud of Nico tonight. He caught on pretty fast to the concept and loved ringing the doorbells. He would say "thank you" so loudly and proudly and walk with such enthusiasm to the next house!

One guy gave him a few large handfuls and he cracked me up as he said, "I'll be back!" He also told a lady "onto the next!" after she gave him some candy. Sometimes we wonder where he gets some of these things he says.

I'd say he made out well this year! Too bad he can't eat hardly any of it though since a lot of it is either too chewy or too hard. We felt kinda bad as we sorted through all of the little guy's candy and debated on what the best pieces were for us to have!

I'm thinking this may go down as my favorite Halloween yet. How wonderful it is to relive these holidays through the eyes of your child!

Red Sox: World Series Champs

I love October.

When I think of October, I think of Starbuck's pumpkin spice lattes, the nice weather changes as fall rolls around, my birthday, and most important of all....BASEBALL playoffs.

While our hearts are with the Rangers, the Red Sox are my #2! It's hard NOT to be a Red Sox fan after visiting the amazing Fenway Park a few times. Here we are sporting some new shirts from Dave and Cindy, who were just in Boston for one of their dramatic playoff wins!

Couldn't resist being rediculous on this pose of the backs of our jerseys...

27 Month Nico

I have moments every now and then when I suddenly feel the need to write down every current detail about Nico that I can think of. Those moments are usually when he does something so darn cute that I think to myself, I don't ever want to forget this and how he is at this age, what he is interested in, etc etc. My fear of forgetting these precious details is what ultimately drives my interest to continue this blog.

I love 27 month old Nico more than any other month. He is so funny, smart, independent, happy, persistent, loving, and energetic. He knows what he wants and likes. He is always talking and thinking. He has brought more joy into our lives than we could have ever imagined. I am so glad that I get to be his mom.

Things he loves to do: hockey in the garage, pushing his own stroller, reading books and doing puzzles, riding his bike in the house, driving his cars, sightseeing in the car and pointing out all of the animals and tractors with such excitement, morning walks, hitting golf balls and baseballs off his tee, going to the zoo and the "jumps" and donuts on Thursdays, cuddling with mommy on the couch, anything outside, playing with friend Derek, ipad games and facetime, hide n seek but only if I hide

He showers by himself for part of the time (Mr. Independent), and then David gets in for part of the time.

He shakes his booty like no other. It's absolutely hilarious.

He likes Mumford and Sons more than any other music.

He pours water into his cup in the bathroom sink and tells us he is making coffee. Then he brings it to us often to try. He loves brushing his teeth, washing his hands, and doing dishes... aka playing in the water.

He picks up on things so quickly and doesn't forget. If you tell him he is going to get to do something when he wakes up from a nap, it's the first thing he will say upon waking.

He loves the dogs and is so sweet and gentle with them (for the most part).

Still attached to his blanket. Loves stuffed animals in his bed, and they all have their place.

When we leave the room after bedtime, he likes to still yell "love you dada, love you mama" until we answer. When we answer back, he chuckles. That's the best little giggle ever. I also love that his little nose crinkles up when he laughs.

TV shows/Movies: He doesn't watch much, and I am a-okay with that! His short list consists of Thomas the Train, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Ratatouille aka "cooking mouse," Finding Nemo, Fireman Sam... and sports that we watch.

Some of our favorite words/phrases of his: Come sit right here, mama. Oh my. Careful. Playroom is "payroom." Music is "musket." He speaks in 3rd person and starts with "Nico my __." Says his name is "Nicholas Aaaaaarnold Biagini. Call me Nico. Shouts hook em when you hold up the hand sign. Can call the Hogs correctly (Arkansas Razorbacks). Nico run fast. Sooooooftly. Also, he gets to talking so fast sometimes that he tries to say so many things at once and it's obvious he can't decide what should come out. So cute.

When you ask him what he did today, he always says "jumps" whether he did or not. When you ask him what he ate, he always says "pancakes." When you ask if he has a dirty diaper, he always says "no" in record time. It's funny to me that he has these default answers.

Fav foods: edamame, fruit, pancakes

Songs: ABCs, "Rock-a-baby" for Rockabye Baby, Wheels on the Bus.

David's fav thing: the crunch noise that he makes when he is eating his chips along with the crinkly bag noise whenever he leaves the jumphouse (talk about random/odd!)

My fav thing: the morning routine when I leave for work and he insists on waving outside and yelling at me that he loves me and to be careful. This is usually accompanied by multiple high fives and knuckles too.

His fear: frogs! He saw a frog outside of Derek's house one night and has been terrified since. Had nightmares multiple times and would wake up thinking a frog was in his bed. Poor guy.

 Love you, Nico.

Saltlick BBQ with Ryan

Ryan came in town this weekend with his friend Gregory, just to have a little getaway hangout. We hung out with them Saturday and went to Saltlick for some BBQ.

Nico got a kick out of riding the cooler.

 I miss E!!

I had to keep this picture because his face says it all. I think he sometimes gets annoyed by all of my picture taking. You be the judge.

"Happy Birthday, dear mama..."

I had one of the most special birthdays today that I have had in my 29 years of existence! What made it so special is that Nico had an active role in it. He picked out colorful balloons and an ice cream cake, and he also sang happy birthday to me for the first time on my birthday!  Who could ask for much more?

We went out to dinner with my parents at Hyde Park CafĂ© before coming back to their house for presents and cake/ice cream.

It was a fun way to celebrate my last year in my 20's! (Gulp!)

A little happy hour time

Beer + patio + beautiful weather =  :)

We tried out a few new places around Austin this weekend including Austin Brewery & Beer Garden, Red's Porch, and Bangers.

I'm always so proud of Nico when we go do things like this. He tends to stay near us and stay entertained without attracting negative attention. He's such a likeable guy!

ACL Festival

Words cannot express how much fun we had at ACL Festival! This is a 3 day concert event where bands take over 8 different stages throughout the infamous Zilker Park. David and I checked off another Austin bucket list item this weekend, and we did it VIP style, thanks to my dad!

The VIP pass allowed us access to a shaded area with plenty of free food and drinks. The air conditioned restrooms were a big score too! We came back here throughout the day for brief breaks, in between the bands we wanted to see.

With 8 different stages spread throughout the park, we composed a master plan of where we wanted to be and when.

I was looking forward most to Kings of Leon on Sat night, and they did not disappoint. They played all the songs we loved, and David and I worked our way up close to the front. What sticks out in my mind most was the encore. As we were jumping up and down, feeling the energy, and singing loud to one of their hits, it started pouuuuuuuring. The timing of all of that made it seem like a surreal scene out of a movie. Definitely a top concert experience!

A majority of the afternoons were spent wandering from stage to stage, with the intermittent drink and bathroom breaks. It was a pretty cool place to wander around. You get a true taste of Austin with all the weird people to look at!

And here we are... mocking the hippies that were laying under the trees and making out heavily.

Vampire Weekend was one of my other favorite shows! I'd rank them 2nd overall.

And a big thanks to my mom for watching Nico all day Fri and Sat so that we could go to his festival! He was well entertained with a trip to the pumpkin patch on Saturday...

It was a good thing that we got our partying out on Fri and Sat because the entire park turned into a lake overnight on Sat! It downpoured the entire night. Crazy. Can't wait to hopefully be a part of this event for many more years to come!

Feeding the sheep and goats, part 2

We did feel bad that Nico didn't get his zoo trip as we had planned this past weekend, so David took him a few days later! That's all that he continued to talk about, and if you know Nico, you know that he won't back down or forget once he gets an idea in his mind! He was so proud to get to feed the animals again.

David sent me this picture with the headline, "Where's Nico?!" Pretty funny.

Fredricksburg Oktoberfest

This morning started out with the intentions of another kid-friendly day. We took Nico to get a donut at Dripping Springs Donuts (his Thursday morning hangout), and we told him that we would take him to the zoo afterwards. Well, his misbehavior frustrated us to the point that we took away his zoo privileges right then and there! As we were then wondering what the heck we were going to do all day, David realized that it's Fredricksburg Oktoberfest weekend! And westbound we headed! Prost!......

Another beautiful drive through hill country. Felt like we were on vacation with some of the views. (The picture totally doesn't do this area justice.)

We all had a blast at this place. There were people everywhere, polka bands, food and beer, and also a kids carnival section. Since the event was held in the middle of downtown, there were shops and restaurants up and down the street for what seemed like a mile long. We ate lunch outdoors on a patio at a German place.

Nico won a balloon with a few tickets from the games he played. This would have been his highlight of the day, if not for the fire station nextdoor to the event. He's obsessed with fire trucks and the noise they make.

We were all worn out after a day out there, and it was naptime for us all when we got back! Our friends down the street came over later that night and we hung out and ate pizza.

Life is good.
