This weekend

We had a busy weekend with lots of fun!

On Friday afternoon, we drove down to Wimberley to a local pizza place that is owned by an ex-NFL player. There is a brewery next door too. It's such a pretty drive to go down there, mainly with winding roads and beautiful scenery!

On Saturday, David and I took Nico to the zoo! Since Nico looooves animals, this was a guaranteed hit. Nico and I came here with my parents over the summer once before. Since it's a smaller size, it only takes a couple of hours to see all of the animals and ride the train. Perfect for a toddler that doesn't do well with skipped naps! Nico's highlight today (and for that matter, maybe the highlight of his life thus far based on his excitement) was feeding the sheep and goats for the first time. That is alllllllllllll that he talked about for days and kept wanting to go back.

I love that we can get so close to the animals. All that separates us and this giant tiger is a few feet and a chain link fence. I have to admit, a part of me gets a little bit nervous when Nico rarrrrrs at them. Ha!

Sunday was sports day with BOTH the Rangers and Cowboys on! Definitely the best time of year for sports. It's a good thing we were good parents and did plenty of kid friendly stuff with Nico this weekend so far, because this mama and daddy were glued to the tv most of the afternoon!

A pretty day for the park

It's nice to be just a 3 minute walk from this little neighborhood park! We decided to bring the whole gang...

Been really beautiful weather lately, and we have been spending a lot of our time outdoors.

Hook 'em

David and I went to check out the tailgating scene for the Texas/Kansas game today! That was one of the top items on my bucket list of Austin. My parents watched Nico, since he is still a few years away from being able to hang all day down there.

We walked around downtown and visited various tailgate scenes and had a blast! Can't say I would want to do it every game, but it's something fun to be a part of once or twice a year. Felt like I was in college again,  but with a much better sports team and 100x more people. :)

We headed back towards the house by gametime to watch the game at Trudy's. Wanted to play it safe. It was one of my favorite days so far here in Austin. I may just have to be a Horns fan afterall.

Some of Nico's new, favorite things

Here are just a few of the things that really catch Nico's attention these days! He's so fun.

1. Clean. My. Dishes. There is a commercial with a kid saying that phrase, and it has captured Nico's attention. He begs to do the dishes, AKA play in the water, on a daily basis.

2. Brushing his teeth. Not a night goes by that he doesn't mention this before bedtime.

3. Playing the drums at Grandma's house. Hitting plastic cups has become his favorite thing to do when he stays over at my parents' house. He's obsessed.

4. He also spends a majority of his time playing with this one toy when he is there, along with about 20 hotwheels cars. It's a hand-me-down from Ryan. He loves it.

5. Golf. It is now right up there with baseball and hockey. David has taken him to hit golfballs at a driving range a few times. He's an athlete already.

6. Facetime. He laughs and enjoys talking with Papa and Grandma on the ipad.

8. Eating donuts. A new Thursday morning tradition has been established of going to Drippin Donuts.

And here's a pic of my dad eating a donut at about the same age. The resemblance is crazy, don't you think?...

9. Cruisin around in his Jeep. He's good with the pedal but still needs some help steering.

Party weekend for us!

Friday night, my dad gave us tickets to the ACL taping of the band, Fun! We saw them last year in Dallas, and they put on a good show. It's always fun to do things like this and feel more like we are a part of the Austin lifestyle!

On Saturday, we had a wedding to go to for one of my PT school friends, Sarah! I love weddings! It was held in Lakeway, overlooking Lake Travis. We got a hotel room nearby, and it felt like a little getaway weekend! Cindy came down and hung out with Nico, which allowed us to have some extra time to ourselves. Gotta have that every now and then!

We spent the day watching football and baseball at Buffalo Wild Wings since there were some big games on. Alabama/A&M especially had our attention. It's right up our alley to have a day to ourselves and just spend it that way. We checked into the hotel later that afternoon, and then went to the wedding around 5. It was a beautiful venue, and we had a great time!

Doesn't he look so much older?!

He was very proud to get a sucker after his haircut today.

Wimberly girls' trip

My mom and I had a little girl's half day in Wimberly! They have a trade days every month, so walked around there for a few hours in the morning. Then, we checked out downtown Wimberly for a little more shopping. We landed at Inoz on their nice patio to have lunch. It was perfect weather in this cute little town, and it was fun to do something with just my mom!

Bad lighting but it's the only pic we got!

We hung out with the guys later that afternoon and met at the Barber Shop for a beer before going to Pieous for some pizza. Then we just hung out at our house. It was a fun, busy day!

Cheeeeeeese!

One of my recent, most favorite pictures of him.

I see it as a mix of a high level of enthusiasm to say cheeeese, with annoyance for me to just take the darn picture already and put my phone away.

Playin in the rain

He was determined to play in the rain so we said, why not?

San Antonio to visit the Myer's

Another perk of being down here is that we are only 1 hour away from David's best, best friend, Todd! His wife, Alyssa, and 2 kids are also expecting twins in another month. We went to visit them just for a day trip today.

Nico played pretty well with Braxton and Ainsley. He loooves his baths so he joined them before we left to head home.

Passed out within minutes.

Really looking forward to getting to know them better! I really have only been around them a handful of times in the 7 years that I have known David. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of eachother now!
