A White Christmas

Christmas morning came late in the Biagini home. It wasn't until after 9:00 that Nico woke up! (There is NO way that we will sleep in that late again for the next 10-15 years on Christmas day.) Nico was really into it. He helped open some of his gifts, and played with all of the toys right away. Between the many toys and all of their wrapping paper, our living room was mass chaos for the next three hours. It was awesome, and everything I had hoped for!

We went over to Neil and Amanda's house early afternoon to have a sit down dinner with the rest of the family.

One of Nico's top gifts that afternoon- SNACKS!...

So cool to have snow in Texas on Christmas Day!!!

Using his last few ounces of energy to continue to play...

This is when you know it's time to go night night...

Here are all of Nico's toys. I'd say he made Santa's nice list...

Hands down, one of the best Christmases that I have had and will ever have. My heart is so full! Couldn't ask for more than to be healthy, happy, and surrounded by the ones we love.

Christmas Eve!

Christmas Eve was our day to spend with Dave and Cindy, and it was full of great food, grandson spoiling, and a family card game later on that night. Chefs David and Cindy were busy in the kitchen most of the afternoon, while Dave and I put together a few of Nico's toys.

Not sure if he loved the car at first sight, or the box!...

Of all the toys, this car was by far his favorite gift. They even got him a trailer and gasoline pump. How cute is that?

After an amazing dinner, we opened gifts and hung out for a while. My family came back to our house later on, and in the spirit of being together and loving one another for the holidays, we played "screw your neighbor!"

It was a very merry Christmas Eve! I love my family!

Pre-Christmas festivities with the fam

As I suspected, this Christmas was my favorite one yet. I am convinced that there are not that many greater joys than seeing Christmas through the eyes of your child. Even though Nico is still a little too young to know what is completely going on, he melted my heart, and it was a joy to live it all through him. There were many other highlights this Christmas, with the highest point being that my grandparents came down to spend it with us Texans. They have not been down here since they moved back up to Michigan when I was little, and it was a real blessing to spend some more quality time with them. My parents and Ryan all stayed at our house for the week, so that was nice to be surrounded by family again.

Our little Christmas break did start with some disappointing news with Nico being diagnosed with the FLU, but luckily, it was just a little 3 day, subtle version. $104 Tamiflu did the trick, though, and he dealt with it like a champ. He was just a little off for a day or two, and wasn't his usual happy, outgoing self.

Friday was the start of the fun, because my parents and Ryan got into town that afternoon. We just hung out at the house and ordered pizza.

Saturday brought about a little more excitement, because we had a get together at our place! The whole gang was here for a crab boil. It was a really fun night of hanging out and frying off our taste buds with some spicy food!

Sunday was a lazy day filled with football watching, last minute Christmas shopping, and Chili's takeout for dinner. Such boring people we were.

And Nico is back to his happy self!

The Edge Stole Christmas

On Friday, David and I went to The Edge Stole Christmas, a concert with 7 different alternative bands. We knew all of the bands' main songs that are played on the radio, and we were pleasantly surprised by a few of their shows.

We met up with Don, one of Uncle Neil's friends, for a few beer refill breaks. It made for a really fun date night to get out and do something different.

The hours building up to this concert was filled with heartbreaking, saddening thoughts though. It was a horrible day for the people of Newton, Connecticut. A mass school shooting happened that morning. Now that I am a mom, this kind of news hits me even harder. From the second I found out about it, I turned on the news, and my eyes were in a constant state of tears. I broke down multiple times throughout the day. Not only did my heart go out to these families, but I couldn't stop thinking about the thought of something ever happening to Nico. Such a sickening thought. It definitely reminded me how precious life is, and I made sure I hugged him a little tighter that day.

Santa Claus is coming to town...

Nico wasn't really feeling Santa this year.....

Still love that cute little pouty face, though.

Christmasy photo shoot

I wanted to get some pics of Nico for a Christmas card, so we walked around downtown McKinney for the afternoon! Our trip ended with getting some gelato, which was a first for me.

My favorite one...
