Take me out to the ballgame...

Today was a special day for our baseball loving family. Drumroll please... Nico went to his first official baseball game! His daddy, grandpa, and great grandpa took him to a day game of the Frisco Roughriders, a minor league team of the Rangers. He lasted 6 innings, which was a surprise to me, and was apparently pretty well behaved. He even sat still for brief periods of time to watch the game.

This grandpa is in his glory with his grandson at a Roughrider's game...

Here's one proud daddy too...

When given one of the foul balls that had flown into the stands, Nico immediately threw it 2-3 rows down in front of him. Sounds about right.

Here's one of my favorite recent pics of him. Could he be any cuter?

Family mall day

So after my fun, little mall date with Nico the other day, the mall was just calling our name again. David and I joked that in 6 years, we were not sure if we have even been to the mall together?!

Bring on the climbing up mountains, crawling through tunnels, and screaming children.

Nico had his first ride on a Merry-go-round.

Snack time at the food court. We enjoy giving him lemons/limes in order to see him make this face...

Couldn't think of a much better way to spend a few hours on Saturday afternoon than with my little family. David actually liked this play area so much that he plans on implementing "Mall Mondays." He's such a cute daddy.

Splash pad time

We have a nice splash pad just down the street from us that we have taken Nico to a few times. There are always a ton of kids running around to catch Nico's attention, plus he likes to play around in the water. You can't beat more free entertainment for a one year old!

Checking out the area. Look at that gut sticking out!...

He was drawn to the football that was lying nearby...

Nico likes happy hour at Gloria's nearby too!

Mommy and Nico day at the mall

In further attempts to continue the air conditoned, kid-friendly activities, Nico and I went to the Frisco mall to play in their kid area! Not a big fan of going to the mall, but hey, I'm trying to accumulate some cool mom points this month.

We stopped at Sonic and split a cup of vanilla ice cream. Nico couldn't get enough of it and would hold his mouth open waiting for another spoonful, which was followed by a big "Mmmmmm."

I remember when I was high-school age or maybe a little older, and I would walk by these kid designated areas in malls and just cringe. There would be 100 kids running and jumping all over the place and making so much noise. Seemed like a germ-infested, headache-inducing, chaotic place to be. Well, today was the day I joined the dark side and decided to chase my kid around in there as well!

Nico had fun! And I have to admit, I did too. There were a lot of little tunnels to crawl through and slides for him to climb up. It definitely is the place to go for cheap entertainment and to wear him out. Note to self. I have a feeling that we will return again in the near future.

Visiting the fishies!

We went with two other families to a children's aquarium in Fair Park this past Saturday and Nico had such a fun time! I was pretty pumped to find something that was kid friendly for a 1 year old that did not involve being in the 110 degree heat! It was a cool setup where all of the tanks were low and meant for little kids to be able to see everything. Nico walked around the place calling everything doggie. Couldn't be any cuter. I definitely understand this whole living through your children thing more and more. I really enjoyed watching him get excited and so curious to see all of the animals.

And since we were down in that area, we went to Mia's afterwards. It made for a great day.

Our Colorado Trip!

David and I took our first Nico-less trip this weekend! We had an amazing time. Ofcourse, I thought about Nico about 38972 times, but it was great to have quality time with my other half. We are so lucky to have all of our parents spend time watching the little guy.

We picked the Denver area primarily because we wanted to see Band of Horses, and what better place than Red Rocks Amphitheatre?! We planned a handful of other things around the area, and it made for a fun little getaway.

Our first stop when we landed Thursday morning was the town of Golden. It's a cute little town that has a handful of shops and restaurants to check out.

Our hotel for the first few nights was here in Golden. It was a close location to the concert on Friday night, plus it is the home of the Coors Brewery. Don't worry, we waited until at least 11 a.m. to have our first drink.

It was pretty cool to see how the whole process works since Coors Light is my drink of choice.

The end of the tour was the best.... the sampling part.

After our time at the brewery, we walked to a restaurant a block down the road to sit on the patio and have lunch. We wandered out way to our hotel to check in and hung out there for a bit before deciding to venture up to Boulder, home of Univ of Colorado. It's a fun college down with plenty of bars, a huge street mall, and the best people watching I've ever participated in.

We definitely got our fill of Pearl Street Mall. We walked quite a bit and went to 6-7 different bars throughout the night. We had falafels for dinner and they were amaaaazing. We ended our Boulder adventures by finding the only place that was playing the Ranger's game! What can I say, they needed our support against CJ and the Angels.

Day 2, Friday, was the concert day! We laid low for the first half of the day, and headed down to Morrison early in the afternoon. It's a tiny town with a few bars that are just a few minutes before you drive into Red Rocks. We went to the Morrison Inn for some margaritas, and then over to Red Rocks Grill for a few more drinks and lunch. And then the concert fun began...

Here is the view from the parking lot. Quite the hike up there.

The beautiful view from above...

Our view of the stage from our seats...

The concert was great!! They played all of the songs we love, including our song. It was a beautiful place to be!!

We woke up Saturday and drove to Denver to play around for the day! They have a huge, never ending outside mall there too with shops and restaurants that we spent the first half of the day checking that out. By the time afternoon hit, we focused in on the area down by the ballpark. Here is our view of Coors Field from the rooftop patio we were on ...

We figured we might as well go into the game for a bit while we were there. We ended up staying for most of it.

Hanging out in the cheap seats...

After the game, we went to dinner and hit up a few last bars (as if we hadn't consumed enough alcohol in the past 3 days. Ha.) This picture makes me laugh because we were too lazy/tired/drunk to walk all the way back to our hotel a handful of blocks away, and flagged down one of those guys on a bike with seats on the back. The poor guy really struggled to get us back.

And that pretty much sums up our little trip! Couldn't wait to get home to see Nico. I swear, he got so much bigger while we were gone. :)

Playin in the backyard

With the addition of our new patio, we have been spending a lot more time outside!

Nico loves to be outside! He enjoys crawling in and out of the doggie door multiple times.

We got him this water toy that shoots the balls out from the top and he loves it.
