Hungry anyone?
We can't help but laugh when we watch Nico and his new favorite thing to do...
Who knows what he would do if he could actually fit it in there?!

If it's not one thing... it's another
Anyone ever heard of an umbilical granuloma?! We have!
So Nico has had a goofy little pimple-looking red spot in the center of his belly button that oozes a little bit, scabs over, falls off in the bath, and then the process repeats. We originally just thought it was part of a healing belly button, but after going this long without any change or new signs of healing, it was time to google! I came up with my best guess of an umbilical granuloma, which basically is harmless, extra skin that has remained intact and oozes after the umbilical cord is cut. It will stay there unless it is treated with silver nitrate, which causes it to dissolve. I figured I better call the pediatrician rather than relying on my random diagnosing skills and waiting until his next appt. Needless to say, we went in this morning and silver nitrate was placed on the diagnosed umblilical granuloma. Points for Dr. Jessica. Unfortunately, I will still be receiving a nice fat bill in the mail! At least nothing is serious though.
Nico has become more of a little person this past week. More alert, more noises, and more smiles! He seems to consistently smile the most at me in the middle of the night. Maybe he is laughing at the fact that he has me wrapped around his finger since I stumble in his room within a minute of crying, or maybe he is just laughing at my 3 am appearance.

A new little milestone: tracking and alertness
It is no longer in question whether Nico can see and react to things! Over the past few days and especially today, his eyes clearly tracked objects infront of his face from one side to the next. He also has completely turned his head and/or moved his eyes to locate different noises and most special of all, my voice :) When he looks at us, we can finally tell that he "sees" us, and it is such a heartwarming feeling when our eyes meet. He loves to look where light is coming from and he frequently stares at the ceiling fan lights and the lit up mobile on his swing. He is much more alert when he is awake. I'm loving these new developments!
He is definitely turning into a little chunk! His cheeks, arms, and legs are filling out nicely!
His daddy dressed him in his Southlake attire to celebrate Kenny's big win the other night.
Not a care in the world...
First College Gameday!
It's that time of year again that we love around our house... college football has begun! Bryan, Murph, and Anne & Jaret came over to hang out, yell at the tv, and drink beer. It was a lot of fun! Needless to say, I was passed out in bed by 7 pm but I'm proud to say it was from exhaustion and not alcohol this year! Oh how the times have changed.
